Google Hangouts is an instant messaging and group video chat platform. This browser-based tool allows users to connect with multiple people at one time, up to 10 people using video. It requires a Google account.

Skype – free software that allows you to make calls, instant message and video conference online. Check out Skype in the Classroom to connect with other schools around the world. Connections can be made via the web or app.

Zoom – A basic membership is free and supports unlimited 1-to-1 video conference sessions that can last up to 40 minutes. Connections can be made via the web or app.

Communication Tools

VoiceThread is an interactive collaboration and sharing tool that enables teachers and students to add images, documents and videos. Other users can then comment on slides via voice, text, audio or webcam. It is an easy tool for creating multimedia presentations, describing a process, digital portfolios and peer reflections.

Venngage - create infographics to visualize and represent data through images, icons and text and customize their design by changing fonts and colors. It is a free, web-based tool.

Easelly allows users to share their ideas and tell their stories visually by creating posters and infographics. They can choose from a variety of templates to get started.
